Lady Gaga Ends Adele's 16 Week Reign!!

Lady Gaga's brand new record 'Born This Way' has replaced Adele at the top of the UK Album Chart. In the most exciting battle for the top spot so far this year.

The outrageous singer has scored the best first-week album sales of 2011 so far. Her album Born This Way sold 215,000 copies in the first week - which is more than the rest of the top 10 as a whole!

Adele has been sitting pretty at the top with her incredible second album, 21 for 16 weeks. She has now slipped to number two. Can the mighty Gaga keep hold of the number one spot for longer? Only time will tell!
Our British soul singer is also in third place with her debut album 19. Lady Gaga's debut The Fame is also still selling well, at number seven. British talent is flying the flag in our top ten this week.

The American star is said to be honoured at having the highest new entry this week and admitted she wrote her single Born This Way in Manchester after being inspired by the Mancunian fans!

Gaga's album cover sees the star as half motor bike and half woman. Whilst writing and recording her album the Lady was inspired by living her life halfway between reality and fantasy and this image fully reflects this.

Dance To The Beat of Nicola's Drum!

Solo dreams have finally come true as the last member of Girls Aloud is about to go it alone. After a year locked away in a recording studio the time has come for Nicola Roberts to set the charts alight with her debut single.

In a case of saving the best till last, Nicola has always been side lined in the group allowing the bigger personalities to lead the group. But from June 5th 'Beat of my Drum' will showcase the fun side of the red head.

She cries: 'dance to the beat of my drum' in the pop / dance track. The song is fun, energetic and very British. Nicola wanted to keep a very British feel to her music and really wants her fans to see that she does have bubbly personality that will reflect in her sound.

Her sound is very late 90's with a personal modern twist, as this is the music era that inspires the star. Its a long way off from Girls Aloud and is the most orginal solo effort from any of the other girls.

Nicola's debut album 'Cinderella's Eyes' is due out in Autumn. I hope the forgettable member of GA will over shadow the success of Cheryl Cole, as she has the voice and the style to become the most successful member of the group.

We can't wait to hear more from Nicola, her voice is incredible and there is a lot of excitement surrounding her. Fresh from the massive success of her make-up range Dainty Doll. The brains and talent of the Girls Aloud star will just keep getting better.

A signed CD single version of the single is available from July 18th.

Notorious On A Saturday!

The dancefloor is about to be rockin' as The Saturdays are back with a bad ass single! Hitting the clubs with new track Notorious the girls proclaim to be a "gangster on the dancefloor".

Taken from their 4th studio album the Sats are back and the lipgloss is at the ready to pull out all the punches on their promotional tour.

Notorious is certainly a grower, as its not the usual sound we are used to hearing from the ladies. As this song is more edgy and dancefloor ready! If they continue with this new direction then they will definitely pick up where the Sugababes and Girls Aloud left off.

It surprises me that the Sats have had such a long break since their last release, with two of the biggest girl bands slipping off the radar it was the perfect opportunity to corner the market.

2011 is the year of Girl Power, as new bands are launching and have exciting new music unleashing on the charts.

The girls have an established fan base, they just need to release a full album next time around! And we can't wait for them to rock the charts!

Notorious is out now on iTunes

The sexy temptress is huge in the states at moment so the collaboration is a smart move if these Jack The Lads attempt to break America.

After filming the video together in LA, the boys even had pulling tips from the one and only Craig David....must have been on a Sunday when they were chillin' after a hard days work.

S&M Action For Rihanna and Britney!

Teaming up for a surprise collaboration last night Rihanna and Britney opened the Billboard Awards with a bang! Held in Las Vegas the girls gave a racy performance on their remix of S&M.

Pole dancing their way through the routine, complete with a pillow fight and the all important on-stage smooch that cried out for attention! Kicking off the show it was hard to top the incredible live spectacle from two Pop Princesses.

It was not until Britney appeared on stage in a blind fold that the rumours of the duet became reality. The exciting duet caused a stir with the audience as the the remix of S&M stormed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 soon after the show.

However stealing the show was the massively talented Beyonce. Winning the prestigious Millenium Artist Award. Also she has a huge performance airing her new single Run The World (Girls) live for the first time on television.

Other winners of the night include Justin Bierber, Digital Artist of the Year. Flying the flag for Britain was Taio Cruz named as Top Hot 100 Song with Dynamite.

The Billboard Music Awards are handed out to the most powerful and popular artists in the American charts. The finalists and winners are determined by their rank on the Billboard charts and their "social and streaming activity."

Leading the nominations across 18 categories was the unstoppable Rihanna! Closely followed by Eminem with 16, Lady Gaga with 12 and Justin Bieber with 11.

Blue Can For Britain!!

Many have questioned why a successful boyband have re-united to take up the opportunity to represent their country at Eurovision. But with an impressive back catalogue and an army of European fans....why not?

So, welcome back to the charts....Simon Webbe, Lee Ryan, Anthony Costa and Duncan James as they re-unite as Blue.
They are back with brand new single 'I Can' as our UK entry for this years Eurovision, and with a catchy chorus it is without a doubt a winning song! Written by two of the boys themselves, Lee and Duncan it has a very British feel to this song.

As a fan of the boys, I feel this would be a massive success as a stand along single release, so I hope they do well with it in Germany this month. Also with a brand new album due out by the end of this year, all Blue fans old and new are eagerly awaiting new material.

Blue will be the first UK representatives since The Shadows in 1975 to have had multiple number 1 single prior to entering Eurovision.  The boys are no strangers to Eurovision themselves, having had a hand with other entries over the years.

Lee Ryan wrote 'Guardian Angel' for Andy Scott-Lee's Eurovision entry for the 2005 'Making Your Mind Up' show. Anthony Costa came second with 'It's A Beautiful Thing' in the 2006 show. Then in 2009 Duncan James was a panellist on the 2009 show where Jade Ewen won and represented the UK that year with 'It's My Time'.

This year sees Blue celebrate their tenth anniversary as a band. Since splitting in 2005, the boys have all has massive solo success with solo albums and West End appearances. But now committed to the band again the Boys are back and ready to show us what they are made of!

PS. Watch out Jedward.....these boys can actually sing and have a massive European fanbase!

Who is Carrie Mac....

Carrie is a 23 year old singer from Scotland. She supported Alexandra Burke on her All Night Long Tour in March, 2011. Since the young age of 5 Carrie has played the violin, and can also play the ocarina and piano. As the talented singer showed on tour she also plays the guitar!

She is the little voice that nervously graced the stage and blew the crowd away with her incredible voice. Appearances can be deceptive as this shy girl started singing and belted out her own music that made the audience sit up and listen. As Carrie became more confortable on stage her personality shone through her music and won the crowd over within minutes.

Til I See You Again was welcomed by roaring crowds on tour and is her debut released from the Star to be. With heartfelt lyrics and a summery melody, it stands alone as the perfect first release.

Hitting the roads five years ago, Carrie was determined to be a success on her own merits. Where others followed the easy route by choosing to audition for talent shows, Miss Mac has enough faith in her own talent to go it alone.
In 2008 she entered a contest on a Scottish radio station and won a One To Watch Award, from which was able to support Sandi Thom and The Proclaimers on tour.

This success was just beginning, writing her own material and meeting writers and producers to guide her, Carrie was able to put together an accoustic album called 'Believe'. With a lot of effort and hardwork this album was quietly lauched in 2009.

However the Carrie Mac journey did not begin until 2010. For more information and to listen to brilliant tracks such as 'Hello' and 'Like A Star' check out Carrie's website: http://www.carriemacmusic.com/

The Mac Facts!!
  • The first time Carrie decided she wanted to write her own songs was when she was inspired by Christina Aguilera's Stripped album.
  • She would love to be the face of Greggs Bakery....and if she wasn't involved with music she would run her own 'Carrie's Cat Sanctuary'.
  • Carrie secretly still believes Unicorns exist....even after learning at the grand old age of 18 that this may not be true....
  • Her Greatest fears are crumpets, sweetcorn and veins, in that order. She was named after the horror film 'Carrie'.
  • She wrote her first song aged 19, titled 'Better Off This Way'
Til I See You Again is available NOW on iTunes. Released May 1st, 2011.
