Cheryl Scores 2nd Number One Single!

Cheryl Cole's new single Promise This has knocked Bruno Mars's Just the Way You Are from the number one spot. The single was released ahead of her second solo album Messy Little Raindrops which is released on Monday.
Promise This sold 157,000 copies since its release at the start of week and has become the biggest selling first week non-charity single of the year.
Her fantastic performance on Xfactor kicked off massive sales. Debut Fight For This Love had one of the biggest first week single sales of 2009. Which sold more than 290,000 copies, so even though Promise This has reached number one it never reached the sales of her first single.
Also doing well in the singles chart is Rihanna, whose new single Only Girl (In The World) went straight in at number two, giving her a 14th UK top 10 hit. Her track also broke the non-charity single record, with 126,000 copies shifted.
Is Promise This better than Fight? I think you can never beat the original from an iconic performer as Cheryl has become. But Promise is a catchy song and with all the publicity surrounding her at the moment it comes as no surprise that she has hit the dizzy heights of the top of the charts. I suspect her album will be a massive success also.

JLS Record for Charity!

Aston, Ortise, Marvin and JB of JLS will release the official charity single in aid of the Children in Need Appeal.

JLS are one of the biggest boy bands around at the moment so their record sales will certainly benefit the charity this year.

No strangers to charity the boys are always looking to give back. They have just launched their own charity The JLS Foundation.

The single is released in shops and to download on November 14.

Girls Aloud Back in Autumn 2011!

Girls Aloud's performance at The Brits.

Girls Aloud will be returning to the charts next year after signing a new deal. They will release three more albums with label Fascination.

The news comes just as two new girl bands are ready to launch early next year. They are Parade and Wonderland. Both of which are nothing like Girls Aloud and bring a whole new design for Girl Power.

Aloud and proud, the girls will return with a bang. They may have little to worry about after all they have been nominated at the Brits for best group and best British single for their chart-topping track, The Promise.

Created through and ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002 the girls have had a string of 20 consecutive top ten singles, including four number ones, and five albums.

They have become one of the most successful British pop groups of the decade. Do you want the girls to make a comeback or are you ready for the new intake of Girl Power??
First signs of split - Nadine is missing!

Coyle vs Cole

NADINE COYLE and CHERYL COLE's chart battle is looking a bit lopsided in the Geordie's favour.
Comparemyradio.com shows that Radio 1 has only played Nadine's single Insatiable ONCE in the past month, and it isn't even on their playlist.

Cheryl's Promise This is on their A-List and is the 14th most popular tune on the UK radio airplay chart.
Nadine's hasn't even made the top 50. Irish Eyes won't be smiling this weekend.

As the girls prepare for their album launches who will lead the chart battle?? Looks set to be the nations sweetheart Cheryl with her album "Messy Little Raindrops" she is more popular, has a record deal and it will be available to buy everywhere.

Nadine's album "Insatiable" is being released through Tesco on her own label Black Pen Records. The CD will be available in 1,200 stores and on itunes. But is this enough to steal Cheryl's crown?

Nadine and Cheyl on Tour - in happier times.

Wonder-Women!

Irish beauties Wonderland are tipped for great success! The girls are Leigh, Corrina, Sharon, Jodi and Kasey.

In the hope of changing the Girl Band formula, these girls have been together for a while and have been working behind the scenes for two years on their sound.

They are  Louis Walsh and Kian Egan's Next Big Thing and have their own TV show on  ITV2. Its a great way to get to know the girls and showcase their songs.

Their mature sound has led them to support Westlife on their huge arena tour.

Just Amazing... That's how the Sat's Roll!

Radio One's Live Lounge had a taste of Girl Power today when the Saturdays checked in.

Frankie, Una, Vanessa, Mollie and Rochelle all popped in to perform live and acoustically just for Radio 1.. Their beautiful breathy version of new single Higher was fantastic!

But the show stealer In the usual Live Lounge way, was the girls cover of Bruno Mars song Just The Way You Are. And it really was amazing!

These talented girls are here to stay, not just your average girl band as they can play instruments too, Una dazzled on the guitar!! Well done Una!

Can any of the others girls play any instruments??

Did you hear the girls on Radio 1, if not check out the website below.

Stage Spice Nominated for Outstanding Newcomer!

Melanie C’s stage magic has been recognized once again for her performance in Blood Brothers.

Melanie returns to Blood Brothers in Liverpool from the 8th November in a two week run with the touring cast. She will be reprising her role as Mrs Johnstone with exciting news.

Just as she is rehearsing Melanie has announced the news that she is nominated for an Evening Standard Theatre Award for her outstanding perfomance at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End.

Adding to her Laurence Olivier nomination earlier this year, The Milton Shulman Award for Outstanding Newcomer, once again highlights Melanie’s impressive stage debut which won critical acclaim.

The shortlists will be published a week before the awards, where winners will be announced at the Savoy in London on November 28.

I was there for Melanie’s final performance in the West End and it was fantastic. The emotion she gave throughout the show was brilliant and the last scene was full of raw and real feeling. She truly can act as well as sing to the roof tops.

As a fan of the show, I have seen it over 8 times and only Bernie Nolan’s perfomance even comes close to Melanie. I will be seeing the show in Liverpool on Monday 15th November and can not wait to see Melanie perform in her home town.

Has anyone seen Melanie in Blood Brothers and do you agree with her nominations?

Joe Number 2 in Mid Week Charts!

Xfactor Winner Joe McElderry is number 2 in the mid week charts!!

Great news for a former winner. Will he make it to the prestigious number one slot and follow in the foot steps of massive star Leona Lewis or will he fall to be another Leon Jackson?

His album sounds like the Scissor Sisters and has a different sound to what you would expect from a reality show contestant.

From the show we expected Joe to bring out an album of ballads and covers. Is this what you wanted to hear from him or do you like his album on upbeat tracks?

RECIPE OF SPICE FOR NEW BAND PARADE

Melanie C is excited for new girl group Parade as they remind her of the Spice Girls. Speaking of Parade Mel said: "They are cute with a great energy. They are based on the Spice Girls and Gwen Stefani".

"They are fiesty girls with more attitude and they've got personality. They’re not all glamour though and they can all sing and dance. I think they are a group that people of all ages can relate too which will give them their edge when they are launched next year."

Lorenzo's Single is Ready to Burn!!

A message from Xfactor's Ruth Lorenzo:

Hi everyone,
Well, you may or may not know that some time ago I split from my major label deal at EMI (due to creative differences – you can read about it here: http://bit.ly/9oaNmL)
I am now down the road of an independent artist, working with a talented and passionate team to release the music that I love and believe in – and that you deserve.

We have finished what will be my first debut single – a song called Burn. This was financed independently, but now we are looking to our friends and fans and all those people who have supported me for so long, to be a part of this incredible journey.

With your help, we can raise a competitive marketing budget that will help pay for the video for Burn, and marketing and PR services to help get airplay, media attention, design and distribution costs.
In return for your support, we are offering some unique exclusives (in very limited numbers) that you will find here and only here.

Get your name in the CD credits, become an executive producer, get a signed CD and many more. New exclusives will be added from time to time so be sure to check back.
I know that with your help, we can do this together, stick two fingers up to the major lable system, and show them that the people DO decide. YOU ARE THE RECORD LABEL FROM NOW ON!
Rock on!

Ruth

IT'S A SCARY WORLD

From Leeds to LA!

Mel B hit the screens again tonight on Sky's the Style network. I really think it should be on ITV2 as its perfect Monday night drama. Since Scary Spice moved to LA I always wondered how her lifestyle would be there and how she would adapt. This TV show is ideal for fans to see how her life has evolved to the LA way of life.

New man in her World is Stephen, he is a family man and seems to be a calming influence to Mel. Ying and Yang! As I was a Spice fan I find it interesting to see Mel's daughter Phoenix on the show, and new baby Angel. But I am glad they are not featured too much. I wouldn't like to see this wholesome family turned into the Osbournes!!

Tonights show was very focused on fitness, I hope this is not a running feature. I guess she was promoting a fitness video game! Overall I am enjoying the programme so far.

Its fantastic viewing, really loved the family run. Mel's moaning and attitude towards Stephen is comedy gold! She seems surprised when he does something right, really funny to watch. They are very tongue in cheek so makes for fun viewing.

Hot New Girl Band! Parade!

PARADE! Members Emily, Bianca, Jessica, Lauren and Sian make up brand new girl group Parade. Signed to Atlantic Records these ladies have the attitude of the Spice Girls, the moves of the Pussycat Dolls and the swagger of Girls Aloud!

Debut single Turn It Up Louder is sure to set the charts alight and put these girls on the road to pure pop domination!

The Girls did a showcase tonight, see below. Which was very successful and they are excited to be touring early next year with Alexandra Burke!! See their website for details.

Blood Brothers (Touring Liverpool)

Former Spice Girl and chart-topping solo star, Melanie C, returns to her home town of Liverpool to reprise her critically-acclaimed portrayal of Mrs Johnstone in the smash-hit touring musical, BLOOD BROTHERS, for two weeks only from 8 - 20 November.

Making her theatrical debut in October 2009 at London’s Phoenix Theatre, Melanie followed in the footsteps ofBarbara Dickson, Kiki Dee, Carole King, Petula Clarkand Helen Reddy to take on the iconic role in Willy Russell’s legendary West End musical. Unanimously acclaimed by the critics, her performance received a multitude of five star reviews; described as ‘Sensational’ (Daily Telegraph), ‘Thrilling’ (Sunday Express) and ‘Dazzling’ (Sunday Telegraph), it won her an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.

Speaking of her return to the production, Melanie said: “I had such an incredible time playing the role of Mrs. Johnstone in the West End and I am so excited to have the opportunity to play her again in my home town at the Liverpool Empire.”

BLOOD BROTHERS tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences. The incredible score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

For a review of the show please see this blog on Monday 15th November 2010

Katie is the Queen of the Judges

Is it me or were the judges watching a different performance than us last night? Katie was the final star to sing last night with her own version of Jungle Book song "I wanna be like you". Keeping with the theme of last nights show "Guilty Pleasures".
Her performance was average and the dancing was terrible. All that was good, was her vocal, the choice of song and everything else was awkward to watch. I am waiting for the knockout perfomance that the judges thought they saw last night.

Afterall she is rumoured to have had three record deals under different names, so come on Katie we are waiting for you to shine. And shine you will.

There's Only One Direction!!

The Xfactor Boys from One Direction are tipped to be this years winners.  Rumours are rife after the band have been in talks with Simon Cowell's record label Syco and also a management deal is on the cards. They are on track to be bigger and better than JLS this time next year.

Kicking off the contest with a fantastic version of Coldplay the lads are proving to be very talented. Even with a questionable song choice from last weeks show singing a Kelly Clarkson hit, the One Direction boys are definitely here to stay right until the Final.

MARY MELTDOWN

MARY Byrne became the latest X Factor wannabe to suffer meltdown after cracking up in rehearsals last night.

Her mentor Louis Walsh admitted the drama was "his worst ever day on X factor".
Tesco checkout worker Mary, 50, struggled to sing Ain't No Mountain High Enough, then sobbed: "This isn't me. I can't do this. I really can't."
Louis Walsh
Worst ever day ... Louis Walsh
Louis comforted her and said that she would be able to sing another song on tonight's Guilty Pleasures-themed show.
He told TV Biz: "Mary just freaked out. She didn't like the song. She was in tears and I was really worried about her.
"I sat her down and said, 'Look, we should change the song. You have to be comfortable doing this'.
"I couldn't bear the thought of her leaving. She has a huge talent and the public love her. She'll get through this. It was touch and go though."
After calming down, third favourite Mary switched to the Ben E King classic I Who Have Nothing.

XFACTOR!!

BLACKOUT FOR XFACOR'S KATIE IN TOPSHOP

Xfactor's Katie Waissel collapsed during a shopping trip last night. Topshop invited all the contestants for a shopping trip in the central London store.

When news spread via twitter more than 40 security guards were called to deal with the crowds. As it was the first time all of this years stars have been out together the mayhem surrounding them was crazy.

Head chiefs at the Xfactor are concerned over Katie's health and are worried that she is not coping with the spotlight.

Her blackout is causing fans to wonder if she will perform on Saturday nights live show. Also if she can't should she be allowed to continue with the contest?

Katie has been a hate target since rumours surrounded her regarding her alleged record deal and dramatic breakdowns on screen.
