MARY Byrne became the latest X Factor wannabe to suffer meltdown after cracking up in rehearsals last night.
Her mentor Louis Walsh admitted the drama was "his worst ever day on X factor".
Tesco checkout worker Mary, 50, struggled to sing Ain't No Mountain High Enough, then sobbed: "This isn't me. I can't do this. I really can't."
Worst ever day ... Louis Walsh
Louis comforted her and said that she would be able to sing another song on tonight's Guilty Pleasures-themed show.
He told TV Biz: "Mary just freaked out. She didn't like the song. She was in tears and I was really worried about her.
"I sat her down and said, 'Look, we should change the song. You have to be comfortable doing this'.
"I couldn't bear the thought of her leaving. She has a huge talent and the public love her. She'll get through this. It was touch and go though."
After calming down, third favourite Mary switched to the Ben E King classic I Who Have Nothing.
